IG Markets, the UK's leading provider of Contracts for Difference (CFDs), has bolstered its suite of tailored mobile applications with the launch of an Android trading app.
The new app is available free of charge through the Android Market and gives existing clients a range of mobile functions equivalent to IG Markets' traditional online dealing platform. Prospective CFD traders, meanwhile, can access live market data and apply for an account directly from their smartphone.

Arman Tahmassebi, Managing Director of IG Markets, commented:
'We want to ensure that all our clients have the ability to monitor markets and place trades whenever it suits them. Following a phenomenally successful launch for our iPhone app and given the growing popularity of Android handsets, this was an obvious next step for us. With mobile dealing now accounting for approximately 15% of all client transactions, this market simply cannot be overlooked.'
Clients using IG Markets on Android will have the ability to place CFD trades on the full range of markets, including equities, indices, commodities and forex. Additional functions also include viewing open positions, watchlists and real-time balance information, setting or editing working orders, and generating a range of charts with customised timeframes.

Non-clients downloading the app will also have access to live CFD prices, along with an account application process tailored for use on Android devices.
Android continues to lead in the UK smartphone market, with the data from Kantar Worldpanel showing handsets using this operating system to be more than twice as popular as Apple or RIM smartphones.
Reports are suggesting that by 2013 more people will access the internet through their mobile phone than through a PC, and that by 2015 mobile broadband could be several times faster than fixed line broadband in many countries.
Comprehensive further releases to the CFD Android app, incorporating support for tablet and small-screen devices among other additions, have already been scheduled.
